Thanks to a friend of my wife’s for sending me a neat book, Evolution for John Doe by Henshaw Ward (1925), which Constance Clark discusses in this article [PDF].
As David Orr noted today on Twitter, “Closing in on a century later, and John Doe still doesn’t get it.” Man from monkeys, evolution explains abiogenesis, evolution is progressive; interesting too to see that misconceptions then are misconceptions still.
