ExplorationWorks, Helena, MT

Since we bought a family pass to OMSI while we were in Portland in March, when my wife said she wanted to drive to Helena, the capital of Montana (little over an hour north of Butte) to find product for our used bookselling, I thought, Patrick & I can check out the little science museum I’ve heard about (the Passport Program for science centers is an awesome thing).

So Patrick & I did. ExplorationWorks: An Interactive Museum of Science & Culture, is a neat little museum nestled in an area of Helena the city is building up, the Great Northern Town Center (also includes a neat carousel we’ll check out some other time). The museum is full of interactive displays teaching about wind, sound, motion, etc., plus a younger kid play room themed as a nature area. We had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures:

  1. Finn has that same shirt. Glad you had fun. i took a quick peak at the museum when it first opened and having been wanting to take the boys there. Between the Lewis and Clark Trail, the carousel and Exploration Works, you could spend most of the day there–or at lease several hours.

  2. We were there several ours, and that did not include a carousel ride…

  3. Hey Darwin,
Glad you had fun last Friday! It was a busy day for us here at ExWorks. Great photos!
I grew up just a few miles from OMSI and that’s one of the reasons I ended up as the PR guy here at ExWorks–I just love science museums, science exhibits etc.
When your OMSI membership expires, we would love to have you join a Montana Science Center (and our family membership is quite reasonable). Whether it’s an OMSI membership or ExplorationWorks membership, it gets you and your family free admission to more than 250 science centers across the continent. Really great deal!
    See you next time!

  4. Hi Ron – Thanks for your comment!

How did you come across my post?

We are moving from MT to Portland, by the way, but will surely use our membership benefits anywhere we come across a science center…
