Forthcoming (October 2008) is an illustrated edition of On the Origin of Species, edited by The Reluctant Mr. Darwin author David Quammen. From the publisher’s website:
The 150th anniversary of Darwin’s classic is in 2009, and to celebrate, Sterling is releasing this fabulous edition. For the first time, Darwin’s brilliant theories sit alongside over 350 illustrations in brilliant color. Throughout, selections from Voyages of the Beagle relate the journey of discovery alongside the theories. Excerpts from letters and diaries help bring this landmark work to life.
Also expect an article from Quammen about Alfred Russel Wallace later this year in National Geographic.
Tonight, I will see Quammen speak about cancer as infectious disease, in the spring Stegner Lecture here at MSU. Last fall he spoke on zoonotic diseases, and I missed his Darwin and Religion lecture last spring.
